Preparation

  • In a large bowl, mix the softened butter and powdered sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Gently fold in the finely chopped walnuts, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.
  • Gradually incorporate the all-purpose flour, stirring until the mixture forms a cohesive dough.
  • Roll small portions of the dough into balls and space them on a lined baking sheet.
  • Refrigerate the baking sheet for about 30 minutes to hold their shape.

Coating

  • Melt the dark chocolate over simmering water until smooth.
  • Dip each chilled truffle into the melted chocolate and place them back onto the baking sheet.
  • Allow the chocolate coating to set, either at room temperature or in the refrigerator.

Serving

  • Serve and enjoy the delightful crunch of walnuts contrasted with creamy chocolate.

Notes

For a gourmet touch, sprinkle sea salt on top of each chocolate-coated ball before the chocolate sets. Variations include adding orange zest.
