  • Red food coloring (optional) For a visually appealing red velvet twist.

Instructions

Mixing Ingredients

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until the sugar dissolves.
  • If desired, stir in a few drops of red food coloring until the mixture reaches your desired shade.

Chilling Mixture

  • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.

Churning Ice Cream

  • Once chilled, pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions, typically around 20-25 minutes.
  • During the last 5 minutes of churning, add the white chocolate chips or chunks.

Freezing Ice Cream

  • Transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for several hours or until firm.

Notes

Use cold ingredients for a creamier texture. If you don't have an ice cream maker, stir the mixture every 30 minutes in a shallow dish to break up ice crystals until the desired consistency is reached. Serve in chilled bowls or waffle cones.
