Ingredients

For the Rice

  • 2 cups rice Fluffy and aromatic, offering the perfect base for the dish.
  • 3 cups chicken broth Adds depth of flavor and richness to the rice.
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce Gives the dish a savory umami punch, enhancing the beef’s taste.
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil Provides a nutty aroma and flavor, bringing all the elements together.
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder Adds a hint of warmth and spice.

For the Beef

  • 1 pound boneless, sirloin steak, thinly sliced Tender and juicy, making it the star ingredient.
  • 1/4 cup teriyaki sauce Sweet and savory, enveloping the beef in deliciousness.
  • 1/4 cup honey Adds a touch of natural sweetness, balancing the flavors.
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated ginger Offers a zesty zing to the dish.

For Assembly

  • 1 avocado, sliced Creamy and rich, adding a delightful texture and flavor contrast.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium saucepan, combine the rice, chicken broth, soy sauce, sesame oil, and garlic powder. Bring this mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let it simmer for about 18-20 minutes, or until the rice is fully cooked and the liquid is absorbed. Fluff the rice with a fork once cooked.
  • In a large skillet, heat a little oil over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced sirloin steak and cook for about 3-4 minutes until evenly browned and cooked through.

Sauce and Assembly

  • In a small bowl, whisk together teriyaki sauce, honey, and grated ginger. Pour this sauce mixture over the cooked beef in the skillet and let it simmer for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  • To create the layers, start by layering a portion of the cooked rice at the bottom of a plate or bowl, followed by a layer of teriyaki beef and top it off with slices of fresh avocado.
  • Repeat the stacking process for each serving, garnishing with additional teriyaki sauce or sesame seeds if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Consider marinating the beef in teriyaki sauce for a few hours before cooking for added flavor. Add chili sauce or sriracha for heat. Use pre-cooked rice for a quicker option.
