Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter
  • 1 cup hot water

Fruity Addition

  • 2 cups sliced fresh or frozen peaches

Optional Toppings

  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans Optional

Sweet Toppings

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, 3/4 cup of granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • Stir in the milk and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth.
  • Fold in the sliced peaches and chopped pecans if using.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.

Cooking

  • In a saucepan, combine brown sugar, 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, melted butter, and hot water. Stir over medium heat until the sugars dissolve.
  • Gently pour the hot syrup over the batter without stirring it.
  • Bake for 45-50 minutes until the top is golden and the edges are bubbling.
  • Allow it to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with a scoop of ice cream or whipped cream. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
