  • 1 piece baguette, freshly baked For toasty perfection

For the fonduta

  • 1/2 cup sour cream or plain Greek yogurt For creaminess

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Slice the baguette into 1/4 to 1/2 inch slices and lay them out on a baking sheet in a single layer.
  • Drizzle the sliced baguette with olive oil.
  • Bake for 5 minutes, then flip the slices, and bake for another 3 minutes until they are golden. Set aside.

Fonduta Preparation

  • Increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a medium bowl, combine sour cream, shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, thyme, red pepper flakes, and cayenne pepper.
  • Spread the cheesy mixture into a small baking dish and layer the smoked provolone cheese on top.
  • Bake until the cheese is melted and bubbling, about 10 minutes.
  • Switch the oven to broil and broil until the cheese is slightly golden and bubbly, about 1 minute.
  • Serve immediately with toasted baguette slices for dipping.

Notes

For richer flavor, consider adding minced garlic to the cheese mixture. Fresh herbs like parsley or basil can add color and freshness. Experiment with different cheeses for a delightful twist.
