Ingredients

For the Miso Glaze

  • 6 tablespoons Unsalted butter, softened Adds a rich, creamy base to the glaze.
  • 3 tablespoons White miso paste Provides that signature umami flavor and a hint of sweetness.
  • 1 tablespoon Brown sugar Balances the savory elements with a touch of sweetness.
  • 2 teaspoons Fresh ginger, grated Brightens the dish with a zesty kick.
  • 1-2 cloves Garlic, minced Introduces aromatic warmth to the flavors.
  • 2 tablespoons Green onions, sliced thin Offers a fresh crunch and color.

For the Salmon

  • 4 pieces Salmon fillets, 6 oz each Fresh and juicy, perfect for absorbing the glaze.

Instructions

Preparation

  • In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the softened butter, white miso paste, brown sugar, grated ginger, minced garlic, and sliced green onions. Stir until all ingredients are well combined and form a smooth, creamy mixture.
  • Preheat your cooking appliance: For oven: Preheat to 375°F (190°C). For air fryer: Preheat to 400°F (200°C).

Cooking

  • Apply an equal portion of the miso butter mixture on top of each salmon fillet, spreading it evenly to ensure all the flavors are evenly distributed.
  • For oven: Place the salmon fillets in a large skillet or baking dish. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon is opaque and flakes easily with a fork. For a beautiful finish, broil on high for 1-2 minutes to caramelize the top.
  • For air fryer: Line the basket with parchment paper or foil for easier cleanup. Place the salmon inside and cook for approximately 9-10 minutes until the salmon is cooked through.

Serving

  • Serve the salmon on a large platter, drizzling any remaining miso butter mixture over the top. Garnish with additional green onions and sesame seeds for a beautiful presentation.

Notes

For the best flavor, allow the salmon to marinate in the miso butter mixture for 30 minutes before cooking if time permits. Experiment with variations by adding spices such as chili flakes for a spicy kick or swapping out green onions for chopped cilantro for freshness. Make sure not to overcook the salmon; it should be just opaque and still moist for the best texture.
