Ingredients
  

For the cake

  • 1 box white cake mix Use any preferred flavor.
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil Can substitute with unsweetened applesauce for a healthier option.
  • 1 cup water
  • to taste Purple gel food coloring (light, medium, dark tones) Adjust the amount for desired color intensity.

For the frosting

  • 1 cup butter (softened)
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk Use more if a thinner consistency is desired.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour the mini cake pans.
  • In a large bowl, combine the white cake mix with 3 large eggs, 1/2 cup of vegetable oil, and 1 cup of water. Mix until smooth.
  • Divide the batter into three bowls and tint each with various shades of purple gel food coloring.

Baking

  • Pour each shade into separate mini pans or layer them in one pan to create the ombre effect.
  • Bake for 15–20 minutes, checking with a toothpick for doneness.
  • Allow the cakes to cool completely before frosting.

Frosting

  • Beat 1 cup of softened butter until fluffy.
  • Gradually mix in 3 cups of powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of milk, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Frost each mini cake with a swirl of purple frosting.

Notes

For additional flavor, consider adding lemon or almond extract to the batter. Mix in sprinkles for added fun. Allow cakes to cool completely before frosting to prevent melting.
