Ingredients
  

For the Cabbage

  • 1 head green cabbage, cut into 1-inch slices Make sure the cabbage is firm and fresh.

For the Beef Patties

  • 1 lb lean ground beef Can substitute with ground turkey or plant-based alternative.
  • 0.5 cup tomato sauce or ketchup Use as a topping for extra flavor.
  • 0.5 cup shredded cheese (mozzarella or Monterey Jack), divided Reserve some for layering.
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 0.5 tsp red chili pepper flakes Adjust for spiciness.
  • 1 tsp grated garlic
  • 0.5 cup chopped green onion
  • 0.5 cup chopped parsley

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Arrange cabbage slices on a baking sheet, brush with oil, and sprinkle with salt and pepper.

Roasting

  • Roast the cabbage for about 10 minutes until slightly tender.

Making the Beef Patties

  • In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, garlic, green onion, parsley, red chili flakes, half the cheese, salt, and pepper. Mix well and shape into four patties.

Assembly

  • Top each roasted cabbage slice with a spoonful of tomato sauce, sprinkle with cheese, and place a beef patty on top, followed by another sprinkle of cheese.

Baking

  • Bake for another 10-12 minutes until the cheese is melted and patties are cooked through. Serve hot.

Notes

For best results, use firm cabbage and feel free to get creative with toppings, including sautéed mushrooms or roasted red peppers. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
