Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 12 oz penne or other short pasta
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley optional for garnish

Instructions

Cooking

  • In a large pot or deep skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  • Add the ground beef and cook until it is browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain any excess fat.
  • Season the beef with onion powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.
  • Pour in the beef broth and add the uncooked pasta. Mix well, then bring to a boil.
  • Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender.
  • Once the pasta is cooked, stir in the heavy cream, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese. Let it simmer uncovered for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and becomes creamy.
  • Remove from heat, garnish with chopped parsley if desired, and serve hot.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days. Reheat by warming on the stove over low heat, adding a little beef broth or cream as needed. You can add spinach or bell peppers for extra nutrition, or use ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
