Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the fresh crab meat, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, egg, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, parsley, salt, and pepper.
  • Gently mix the ingredients until well combined without breaking the crab meat too much.
  • Form the mixture into small patties, about 2-3 inches in diameter.
  • You should yield around 8 patties.

Cooking

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the crab cakes to the skillet, cooking each side for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove the crab cakes from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  • Serve hot, garnished with lemon wedges and a side of tartar sauce.

Notes

For firmer crab cakes, refrigerate the mixture for at least 30 minutes before forming patties. Use fresh crab meat for best flavor. You can also bake the crab cakes instead of frying them.
