Cheese

  • 8 oz fresh mozzarella balls (bocconcini or ciliegine) Creamy and tender orbs.

Marinade

  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil Golden and fragrant.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Adds depth to the flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil, chopped Bright and peppery.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh oregano, chopped Earthy and robust.
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional) For added heat.

  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper Adds warmth.
  • 1 zest of 1 lemon Adds a refreshing finish.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Drain the fresh mozzarella balls and pat them dry with a paper towel.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the extra virgin olive oil with the minced garlic.
  • Add the chopped basil, oregano, red pepper flakes (if using), salt, black pepper, and lemon zest to the bowl.
  • Gently stir the mixture to combine the ingredients.
  • Add the mozzarella balls to the bowl, ensuring they are well coated.
  • Cover the bowl with cling film or a lid and refrigerate for at least two hours, preferably overnight.

Serving

  • Serve chilled or at room temperature.

Notes

Use high-quality olive oil for the best flavor. Avoid overcrowding the bowl when marinating.
