  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar for that perfect touch of sweetness
  • 2 large eggs adding moisture and richness
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract offering warmth and depth of flavor
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour the foundation of the cookie cake
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda helping it rise beautifully
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt enhancing all the sweet flavors perfectly
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (milk, dark, or white) for indulgence
  • 1/2 cup Valentine's-themed sprinkles or M&Ms adding a festive flair

For the Frosting

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened for a velvety texture
  • 2 cups powdered sugar ensuring the frosting is sweet and creamy
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract enhancing the frosting's flavor
  • 2-3 tablespoons heavy cream (or milk) achieving the right consistency
  • to taste red or pink food coloring (optional) for that festive touch

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a heart-shaped pan by lining it with parchment paper or lightly greasing it.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat together the softened butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Then mix in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  • Gently fold in the chocolate chips and Valentine's-themed sprinkles or M&Ms.
  • Spread the cookie dough into the prepared heart-shaped pan, pressing it evenly across the bottom.

Baking

  • Bake for 18-22 minutes or until the edges are golden and the center is set. A toothpick inserted should come out clean.
  • Allow the cookie cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting and Serving

  • To prepare the frosting, beat together the softened butter and powdered sugar until smooth and fluffy. Add in the vanilla extract and heavy cream, mixing until you reach the desired consistency. Add red or pink food coloring if desired.
  • Once the cookie cake has cooled completely, generously frost it with the buttercream frosting and decorate with additional sprinkles or edible glitter.
  • Slice and enjoy your heart-shaped cookie cake, sharing joy and sweetness with others.

Notes

Ensure the butter is softened for the best texture. Consider adding cocoa powder for a deeper chocolate flavor. Chill the dough for 30 minutes for a chewier texture.
