Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 whole fresh pineapple, peeled, cored, and sliced into rings Choose a ripe pineapple for the best flavor; it should be slightly soft to the touch and fragrant.
  • 2 tbsp honey This natural sweetener enhances the caramelization while adding a lovely gloss to the pineapple rings.
  • 1 tbsp lime juice Freshly squeezed lime juice brings a zesty brightness that balances the sweetness.
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon (optional) A sprinkle of cinnamon adds warmth and complexity to the flavors.
  • 1 pinch salt Just a touch of salt can elevate the sweetness of the grilled pineapple.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your grill to medium-high heat to ensure perfect grilling conditions.
  • In a small bowl, mix the honey, lime juice, ground cinnamon (if using), and a pinch of salt until well combined.
  • Using a basting brush, generously coat both sides of the pineapple slices with the honey mixture.

Grilling

  • Place the pineapple rings on the grill and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side.
  • Look for grill marks to indicate that it’s caramelizing and softening just as it should.

Serving

  • Once done, remove the grilled pineapple from the grill and serve immediately, either on its own or alongside a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an indulgent twist!

Notes

For an extra layer of flavor, let the pineapple slices sit in the honey mixture for about 15-30 minutes before grilling. You can also utilize a grill pan on the stove for similar results.
