Preparation

  • Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the thinly sliced onions. Stir gently and cook, stirring frequently for about 15-20 minutes until caramelized.
  • Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  • In a separate pot, brown the prepared beef stew meat for about 5 minutes.
  • Combine the caramelized onions and garlic with the browned beef. Pour in the beef broth and add thyme, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Stir and bring to a simmer.

Cooking

  • Allow the pot to simmer for 1 to 1.5 hours, stirring occasionally until the beef is tender.
  • Prepare the egg noodles according to the package instructions until they are tender yet firm.
  • Once the beef is tender, stir in the cooked noodles and adjust the seasoning if necessary.

Finishing Touch

  • Sprinkle shredded Swiss cheese over the top, cover the pot, and let it sit for a few minutes until the cheese is melted.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

For optimal success, slice onions thinly and don’t rush the sautéing process. The cheese topping brings the dish together.
