Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the egg, vanilla extract, and optional almond extract, mixing until smooth.
  • Gradually add the all-purpose flour and salt, mixing just until combined to form a soft dough.
  • Divide the dough into two equal portions, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

Baking

  • Roll the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thickness. Cut out dove shapes and transfer to baking sheets.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges begin to turn golden.

Icing Preparation

Decoration
