Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef seasoned and richly flavored
  • 4 medium potatoes sliced thinly
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese melted
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup provides a comforting base
  • 1 cup milk ensures a smooth consistency
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder adds aromatic kick
  • to taste salt and pepper to enhance flavors
  • optional chopped green onions for garnish

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef along with the chopped onions. Drain the excess fat.
  • In a large bowl, blend the cream of mushroom soup with milk, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.

Layering

  • In a greased 9x13 inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes.
  • Add half of the beef and onion mixture on top, followed by half of the shredded cheese.
  • Repeat the layering process with the remaining ingredients.

Baking

  • Pour the creamy soup mixture over the top.
  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Notes

Ensure layers are not overcrowded for even cooking. You can swap ground beef for turkey or plant-based alternatives, and sweet potatoes can be used for a healthier option.
