Base Ingredients

  • 1/2 tablespoon unsalted butter Adds richness and flavor.
  • 2 tablespoons finely diced onions Provides crunch and sweetness.
  • 2 tablespoons finely diced celery Gives freshness and texture.
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic For aromatic essence.
  • 2 cups cooked, chopped chicken breast Hearty base for the dip.

Creamy Mixture

  • 4 oz cream cheese (room temperature) Ensures a creamy consistency.
  • 1/2 cup sour cream Adds tanginess and richness.
  • 2 tablespoons ranch or blue cheese salad dressing For added creaminess.
  • 1/2 cup Cholula brand Original hot sauce Provides the spicy kick.

Seasonings

  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika Enhances color and flavor.
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder Intensifies garlicky goodness.
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder Rounds out the flavors.
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley Adds an herbaceous note.

Cheese and Garnish

  • 1 1/2 cups Mozzarella or Cheddar Cheese (divided) For gooeyness and stretch.
  • 1-2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream To thin out if needed.
  • 1-2 tablespoons fresh parsley/green onions and blue cheese crumbles Optional, for garnish.
  • 1 loaf baguette (sliced, buttered, and toasted) Perfect for scooping.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a large deep skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the finely diced onions and celery, sauté until tender.
  • Reduce heat and stir in the cream cheese until melted.
  • Stir in the sour cream, salad dressing, and hot sauce.
  • Add the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried parsley. Mix well.
  • Stir in the chopped chicken to coat in the sauce.
  • Add half to three-quarters of a cup of shredded cheese until melted.
  • Transfer to a serving dish and top with remaining cheese.
  • Broil on low until cheese is melted and bubbling, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Serve immediately, garnished with parsley or green onions and blue cheese crumbles.

Notes

For a smoky flavor, substitute some hot sauce with chipotle sauce. Dip can be prepared ahead and stored in the fridge before baking.
