Steak Ingredients

  • 2 pieces ribeye steaks, 1-inch thick Choose high-quality steaks with good marbling.
  • 1 tablespoon salt To taste
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper To taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil A high smoke point oil.
  • 3 tablespoons butter Adds richness and depth.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Introduces a fragrant flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme, chopped Brings a fresh, earthy note.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh rosemary, chopped Adds aromatic complexity.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Remove the steaks from the refrigerator and allow them to come to room temperature for roughly 30 minutes.
  • Generously season both sides of the steaks with salt and pepper.
  • Heat the olive oil in a heavy skillet over high heat until it's smoking hot.

Cooking

  • Place the steaks in the skillet and let them cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for a medium-rare steak, or until they reach your desired doneness.
  • Halfway through the cooking, add the butter, garlic, thyme, and rosemary into the skillet. Continuously spoon the melted butter over the steaks.
  • Once cooked, remove the steaks from the skillet and allow them to rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Notes

To enhance your steak, let it come to room temperature before cooking and don't skimp on salt and pepper. Use a heavy skillet like cast iron for the best sear.
