Ingredients

For the Cake

  • 1 box vanilla cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box, usually eggs, oil, and water)
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar rich and aromatic
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon warm and spicy

For the Filling

  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk creamy and sweet
  • 1/4 cup melted butter luscious and golden
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract fragrant and comforting
  • 1 teaspoon additional cinnamon to enhance flavor

For the Topping

  • 4 oz cream cheese softened to a velvety texture
  • 1 cup powdered sugar light and airy
  • 2 tablespoons milk to achieve the perfect consistency
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract for a double hit of flavor

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Prepare a 9x13-inch baking dish by greasing it.
  • In a large mixing bowl, prepare the vanilla cake batter according to the package instructions.
  • Stir in the brown sugar and cinnamon into the cake batter.
  • Pour the batter into the greased baking dish and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • While the cake bakes, mix the sweetened condensed milk, melted butter, vanilla extract, and additional cinnamon in a bowl.
  • Allow the cake to cool for 5 minutes after baking. Poke holes all over the surface with the handle of a wooden spoon.
  • Carefully pour the filling mixture over the cake, ensuring it seeps into the holes. Let it soak for 20 minutes.

Topping and Serving

  • In a separate bowl, use a hand mixer to beat the cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Drizzle the cream cheese mixture over the cooled cake and spread it evenly.
  • Slice the cake and serve.

Notes

Make sure ingredients are at room temperature for best results. Avoid overmixing the batter to prevent a dense cake. Add nuts on top for a delightful crunch if desired.
