Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Arrange the saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.

Cooking

  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter and brown sugar together until it reaches a gentle boil. Let bubble for about three minutes without stirring.
  • Pour the hot caramel mixture evenly over the arranged crackers.
  • Bake for 5 minutes until bubbly and slightly darkened; watch closely to avoid burning.
  • Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot caramel layer. Allow to melt for a minute, then spread evenly. Top with cinnamon sugar.
  • Let cool completely before breaking into pieces.

Notes

Serve warm with ice cream, or use for ice cream sandwiches. Store in an airtight container for freshness.
