  • 1/4 tsp salt Enhances flavors and balances sweetness.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened Adds moisture and richness.
  • 1 cup sugar Creates a tender crumb.
  • 2 large eggs Provides stability and moisture.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract Elevates the overall taste.
  • 1/2 cup whole milk Helps achieve ideal moistness.

Ganache Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream Essential for a smooth, glossy ganache.
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips Melts beautifully and creates a luscious drizzle.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your mini cake pans generously, then dust them lightly with flour.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt; set aside.
  • In another bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter and sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  • Add in eggs, one at a time, ensuring they blend thoroughly before adding vanilla extract.
  • Gradually incorporate the dry mixture, alternating with whole milk, stirring until well combined and smooth.

Baking

  • Divide the batter evenly among your mini cake pans.
  • Place them in the preheated oven and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Once baked, allow the mini cakes to cool in the pans for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Making Ganache

  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, warm heavy cream until it just begins to simmer.
  • Remove from heat and pour over dark chocolate chips in a mixing bowl. Allow it to sit for a minute before stirring until smooth.

Assembly

  • With your mini cakes cool, drizzle the ganache over each cake.

Notes

For best results, ensure butter is at room temperature for easy mixing. Don't overmix the batter. Rotate the mini cake pans halfway through baking for even rise. Serve with whipped cream or fresh berries.
