Ingredients

Main ingredients

  • 1 lb ground sausage spicy or mild, depending on your preference
  • 1 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese sharp
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese adds stretchiness
  • 1 can (10 oz) Rotel diced tomatoes with green chilies drained

Spices

  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Garnish

  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley optional

Instructions

Cooking the Sausage

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the ground sausage. Cook while breaking it up with a spatula until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess grease.

Mixing the Ingredients

  • Incorporate the softened cream cheese into the skillet with the cooked sausage. Stir until melted and combined.
  • Gradually stir in the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, followed by the drained diced tomatoes. Add garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and black pepper. Stir until smooth and creamy.

Serving

  • Remove from heat and garnish with chopped parsley if desired. Serve immediately with tortilla chips, crackers, or fresh veggies.

Notes

For added flavor, experiment with different types of sausages like turkey or chicken. You can also add crushed red pepper flakes for extra heat. Leftovers can be mixed with spinach or artichokes for reheating.
