Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and spray a baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Season both sides of the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, sauté minced garlic in olive oil until fragrant (about 1 minute).

Cooking

  • Place seasoned chicken in the baking dish and pour marinara sauce over each piece.
  • Top with mozzarella cheese, layering it generously.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C) and cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  • Let sit for 5 minutes before serving; garnish with fresh basil if desired.
