Preparation

  • Slice the beef against the grain into thin strips.
  • Chop the bell peppers and onion into manageable pieces.
  • In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with soy sauce, minced garlic, and freshly ground black pepper. Allow it to marinate for at least 15 minutes.

Cooking

  • In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  • Add the marinated beef in batches, searing for about 2 minutes until browned.
  • Introduce the bell peppers and onion to the skillet and stir-fry the vegetables for about 3 minutes.
  • Mix brown sugar with a splash of water to create a syrupy consistency. Pour over the beef and veggies, stir to coat, and simmer briefly until thickened.

Notes

If you prefer a more luxurious experience, consider marinating the beef for a couple of hours to let the flavors seep in. Perfect for serving over rice or noodles.
