For the loaf

  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour finely milled for a soft texture
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder to provide that perfect lift

  • 1 cup granulated sugar providing the sweetness balance

For the glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar for that delightful sweetness

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure even bake and a beautifully golden crust.
  • Grease and flour a loaf pan, or line it with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, use a mixer to cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then stir in the lemon zest and lemon juice.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with whole milk, starting and ending with dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Glazing

  • For the glaze, mix the powdered sugar and fresh lemon juice in a small bowl until smooth and drizzle over the cooled loaf.

Notes
