Description

A whimsical dessert capturing childhood nostalgia with buttery crusts, sweet strawberry filling, and luscious icing.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (cold, cubed)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries (chopped)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for filling)
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup icing sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
  2. In a bowl, combine chopped strawberries with 1/2 cup sugar and cornstarch; set aside.
  3. In another bowl, mix flour, cold butter, sugar, and salt until crumbly.
  4. Gradually add ice water until the dough comes together.
  5. Roll out half the dough and fit it into the baking dish.
  6. Spread the strawberry mixture over the crust.
  7. Roll out the remaining dough to cover the filling, then trim edges and crimp them together.
  8. Cut slits into the top crust for steam to escape.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Let cool slightly before drizzling icing made from mixing icing sugar and milk over the warm pie.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or fresh whipped cream for a delightful treat.
