- 1 1/2 cups crushed chocolate biscuits (such as Oreos or Digestives)
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1 tsp instant coffee (optional)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate (for ganache)
- 1/4 cup heavy cream (for ganache)
Instructions
- Grease and line a round cake pan with parchment paper.
- Mix the crushed biscuits with melted butter and press into the bottom of the pan to form the base.
- In a bowl, whisk together milk, sugar, cocoa powder, coffee (if using), and vanilla. Stir in the baking powder.
- Pour the batter over the biscuit base and smooth the top.
- Place the pan in a steamer or a large pot with boiling water, cover it, and steam on medium heat for 40-50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool completely.
- For the ganache, heat the heavy cream and pour it over chopped dark chocolate. Stir until smooth.
- Spread ganache over the cooled cake, chill for at least 1 hour, slice, and serve.
Notes
For enhanced flavor, consider adding nuts or flavored extracts.
