Description

A delightful meatball sub recipe that combines juicy meatballs with marinara sauce and melted cheese, perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1/2 cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 4 sub rolls
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper until well mixed.
  3. Shape the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs and place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each one.
  4. Bake for about 20 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Meanwhile, slice open the sub rolls and place them on another baking sheet.
  6. After the meatballs are done, spoon marinara sauce over them and sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top. Return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes until cheese is bubbly.
  7. Serve the meatball subs with extra marinara sauce on the side.

Notes

For a richer flavor, brush sub rolls with garlic butter before toasting. Leftover meatballs can be frozen and reheated for later meals.
