Description

Deliciously crispy cornbread waffles infused with sharp cheddar and jalapeños, perfect for breakfast or as a side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup diced jalapeños
  • 1/4 cup melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your waffle maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions until it’s hot and ready.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, combine the whole milk, eggs, melted butter, and diced jalapeños.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and gently fold in the shredded sharp cheddar cheese.
  5. Ladle the batter onto the preheated waffle maker and cook until golden brown.
  6. Serve warm with butter or syrup, or alongside a hearty bowl of chili.

Notes

Avoid overbaking the waffles for the perfect texture and check for golden brown color before removing from the waffle maker.
